The controversy over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam


Ethiopia has begun generating electricity for the first time from its massive hydropower plant on the River Nile.

But the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is the source of a decade-long dispute with neighbouring countries, Sudan and Egypt who are concerned that the project will cause severe water shortages downstream.
